This blog

To be perfectly frank, I have no purpose here other than to write. I do care about what I say. If there is one thing I have learned in the last several years it is that precision in expression matters. But none of that matters if you do not express yourself.

The time is right

When it comes to blogging, I know nothing. But that is not necessarily a disadvantageous place to be. After all, we sit down at the computer with maybe 1/10,000 of an idea in our heads and we publish without a second thought. It is so easy now and it feels as if you are broadcasting to the world. But, of course, you're not. You're publishing to a select few, who deem you worthy to scan over during their busy day..I think, however, none of that matters much. I think that the point is to write and not stop.
Nietzsche would have loved and hated the internet at the same time. He would have disparaged the Neanderthals who had access, but he would have loved that each individual could bring to the front their own special essence. I just finished grading a short essay by a student who understood more about Nietzsche than most of the books I have read about his work. She said,  “Nietzsche advocates for a person to be an individual and throw away their mental filter of morality..” She understands that it is up to her to be moral. But really what it means for her is to become herself.  It is up to her to be the best person she can be. But at the same time, this does not mean she should define herself by a prescribe social morality. I am astounded daily by people who do not realize their own power.
